General information only
PestMan provides general information about pests in Australia. It does not replace advice from a licensed pest-management professional, or medical, veterinary, structural or legal advice. Pest behaviour varies with species, location, weather and property, so information may not apply to your situation.
Pesticides and product labels
In Australia, pesticides are registered by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). Products must be used only as their label directs — this is a legal requirement. PestMan never recommends off-label use. Always read the whole label, follow safety directions, and keep products in their original containers away from children, pets and food.
Pets and animals
If you think a pet has been exposed to a pesticide or bait, contact your vet immediately.
Wildlife
Native animals, including possums, are protected. Follow your state’s wildlife rules and use licensed wildlife removalists where required.
Biosecurity
Some pests, such as red imported fire ants, must be reported to authorities. Do not disturb or treat them yourself.
Professional services
Where PestMan helps connect you with pest-management assistance, the service is provided by the independent professional, not PestMan. Check that any pest manager holds the licence required in your state.
