Pantry Pests

Small beetles, weevils or moths living in dry food are stored-product (pantry) pests. They usually arrive inside a product and spread to other packets.

Check these features

  • Pantry moths: small (about 8–10 mm) moths fluttering in the kitchen; larvae are cream caterpillars that leave silk webbing in food.
  • Weevils: 2–4 mm dark brown beetles with a long snout, often in rice, wheat or pasta.
  • Flour beetles: 3–4 mm reddish-brown, flattened beetles in flour and baking mixes.
  • Other beetles: tiny round brown beetles in spices, dried herbs and pet food (cigarette and drugstore beetles).
